Kyrgyzstan’s acting President, Kurmanbek Bakiyev, said in his speech, broadcast live, that all newspapers, including government-controlled, should be free. Bakiyev addressed the problem faced by the National TV and Radio Corporation, saying he had no purpose to impose new managers on the staff. According to him, Dastan Sarygulov, the state secretary, was ordered to propose candidates, who are to be approved or disapproved by the staff. The head of the state stressed on the necessity for all media to be free from any kind of pressure, in order to be objective and fair. |
