Hot News 2005 March 30 Non-governmental sector in Kyrgyzstan is dismayed over the new management of the state TV channel
A number of non-governmental organizations expressed dismay that Dastan Sarygulov (state secretary of the KR) unilaterally appointed new management of the Kyrgyz National TV and Radio Broadcasting Corporation. The Coordinating Crisis Center of the Civil Society has mentioned in its statement “NTRK, for many years provoked people’s negative feelings and today is not going to change its work and content. Many programmes, which were aimed at bring a new wave to development process of our society, allowed people, giving inadequate speeches and expressing negative emotions to appear on TV screens, instead of calming people down. The airtime is full of people, voices and faces, which were associated with unconstitutional calls, undemocratic initiatives, lie and disinformation, now are trying to teach us democracy, rule of law and order. The appointment of new State Secretary, a person who tried to stifle free speech through courts and law enforcement agencies and who is guilty of Sydykova’s imprisonment, editor of Respublika newspaper, makes no sense. Besides, we definitely remember the role he played in Barskaunsk tragedy of 1988,” they said. |
