A journalist for Naryn Regional TV company, Esengul Zhanushev, was held hostage

 

Naryn Regional TV and Radio Company’s trade union’s chairman, Gulzhan Kydyraliyeva, informed that TV company’s reporter Esengul Zhunushev had been held hostage for 9 hours by the voters protesting, in Kochkor district. He had to listen how the protesters were blaming him for biased coverage of the events. Additionally he was being beaten up by unknown individuals, recorded on the video- and photo- tape, wearing a placard “I vote for people’s enemy – Usubaliyev.”  

62% of the electorate in the region voted against the 86 y. o. candidate Turdakun Usubaliyev (firmer First Secretary of the Communist Party in Kirghizia) . the Akayev’s administration tried to impose him aggressively on people, by removing his contestant from standing in the elections.
