Hot News 2005 April 6 Leninsk district court scheduled hearing in the case against Birge movement and ResPublica chief editor
Youth movement “Birge!” informed that Leninsk district court scheduled hearing in the case against movement activists Timur Shaihutdinov and Sergey Zeiluk, and ResPublica editor for April 7 2005, at 10 a.m. The individuals were arrested while taking part in a peaceful demonstration “Birge against fear!” on March 9. Movement leaders staged the demonstration “Birge against the fear!” at the Youth Alley outside the Kyrgyz National University, calling upon students to resist the pressure exerted on them by University Administration, whose actions were intended to ensure that former President’s daughter Bermet Akayeva wins the Parliamentary elections. “Birge” informed also that their comrades were arrested in violation with the Constitution. “The only thing left is our hope that justice would be above convulsions of the regime, which had already passed into history and the court wouldn’t violate the Constitution and follow unlawful decrees issued by the city kenesh.”
