Hot News 2005 June 08 State-run media outlets serve interests of the authorities
“In the wake of the elections, state-run media outlets focused their attention on one particular political figure– Prime Minister Kurmanbek Bakiyev; these things never happened, even in worst moments of history of our country,” Yrysbek Omurzakov, chief editor for Tribuna newspaper, said. According to him, all progovernmental print and electronic media outlets took such a stand. The journalist explains the current situation by inability of media outlets to adapt to new conditions, so they just continue implementing the social order of the authorities.
