Hot News 2005 June 30 Civil community members accused independent media outlets of distributing falsehood
Solosun Totonova and Burul Ismailova, heads of Public Associations “Zengi-Baba” and “Chakyruu” respectively, called on Agym and MSN independent newspapers to report on events objectively and accurately. The statement came out after the papers published materials, saying that the abovementioned NGOs took 2 cell dictaphones and video cameras as a gift from “Mekenim Kyrgyzstan” movement, besides the movement promised to give each NGOs $1 million to organize a seizure of the Government House, scheduled for 17 June. The civic institutions denied involvement with any political party or movement. According to them, the editors of the above newspapers should have checked information before distributing it.
