August 3 Azattyk Radio programmes ceased broadcasting through medium and ultra-short waves
Republican Producing Association of Radio Relay Routes, TV and Radio Broadcasting (RPARRR) “Kyrgyztelecom” ceased broadcasting Azattyk Radio programmes through medium and ultra-short waves. Kyrgyztelecom informed that this decision had been made in connection with financial issues. Since now on the programmes will be broadcast through the short waves and rebroadcast by Radio Almaz. Sovodnaya Europa-Azatty has no bearing on the ceased broadcasting; it is rather related to the decision by Washington-based International Broadcasting Bureau (IBB), to reduce annual funding to RPARRR Kyrgyztelecom. The IBB is the only organization that decides on funding radio broadcasting outside of the USA. |
