Hot News 2005 August 17 IREX is going to close the Media Resource Center in Zhalalabat
On 1 August, International Research and Exchange Board stopped funding Media Resource Center in Zhalalabat. The Center staff are concerned over IREX’ decision to transfer the equipment of the Media Center to other organizations. Local journalists say IREX made a hasty and premature decision that would cause the Center to collapse. It would be hard to create similar Center. In this connection, Zhalalabat journalists sent a letter to the US Embassy and IREX officials, asking to keep the equipment to the media center, which will be supported by other donors to continue its work.
