Hot News 2005 August 22 Batken State University rector filed a lawsuit against Batken Tany newspaper
The court hearing of the lawsuit filed by Ilimiddin Abdrasulov, rector of the Batken State University against Batken Tany, state-run regional newspaper and its chief editor Adyl Akhmatov took place on August 22, 2005, in Batken district court. The rector is seeking 400 thousand soms damages ($10000). He believes that his honor, dignity and business reputation was attacked by an article by Tagayev, ex-rector of the University, published in the paper. Under Andrasulov, he requested Akhmatov not to publish the article before, but the latter ignored his words. Tagayev failed to appear before the court, after having left Batken region.
