Maxim Maxomovich, Kyrgyzstan Ex-president’s attorney plans to sue MSN and Zhany ordo newspapers

Maxim Maxomovich, Kyrgyzstan Ex-president’s attorney, plans to file a lawsuit against MSN and Zhany ordo newspapers. Attorney said a report published in the papers, claiming that Akayev’s family was involved in the murder of the MP Erkinbayev, is baseless. An article published in MSN on 28 September, 2005, entitled “Secret circular,” was based on a letter found in the safe of the late Bayaman Erkinbayev. The paper believes the letter was written by Akayeva, recommending the actions to “whiten family’s reputation.”

Another newspaper Zhany ordo published witnesses’ testimonies. The witnesses were those people who had been near the MP before he died. Besides the paper reported on President’s daughter, Bermet Akayeva, who had visited the MP just a day before he died. The paper believes the family is involved in his death. Maxim Maximovich argued the information is false, so he plans to sue the paper. The lawsuit will be seeking retraction and damages.
