Independent newspaper Fergana and independent TV Company Echo Manasa stopped their activities

Since 1 August, 2005, independent newspaper Fergana and independent TV Company Echo Manasa stopped their activities. The reasons were the lack of professionals for the newspaper, and financial problems for the TV Company. A recent replacement of the chief editor Bakyt Orunbekov, who was appointed as editor of government periodical “Kyrgyz Tuusu,” caused the paper to face organizational problems, due to new editor’s inability to manage the work. The new editor appointed was Orozaly Karasatov, former press secretary to Zhalalabat governor. Despite the efforts by the ex-editor Orubekov to get back the popularity of the paper, it closed.
