Hot News 2005 October 12 Zhalalabat State Regional TV Channel is facing pressure from Regional Administration
On October 6, 2005, chairman of Zhalalabat state regional TV and Radio company Yrysbek Zulimbekov received a formal letter, signed by vice-governor Zhanysh Kurbanov, requesting to retract a report about the joint raid with the Prosecutor’s Office at a cattle market. On 7 September had their raid, aiming at checking if state officials use cars, that are formally state property, in their personal interests. The raid filmed vice-governor, who drove administration car to the market, pursuing his personal interests. The official letters says the public presentation of the footage is unjustified, so the TV channel should retract it. If the channel fails to retract, Zhusup Maksutaliyev will have to file a lawsuit in court. The TV channel officials refused to comment on the letter. Journalists plan no retraction. |
