Pavel Gromskiy, a reporter with Itogi nedeli said rights of ethnic minorities to access information had been violated

 

Officials of a number of organizations and parties, who held a press conference in Osh, refused to answer questions by Pavel Gromskiy, a reporter with Itogi nedeli newspaper. Journalist Abdumanap Halilov, who chairs human rights organization Akyikat zhol (Let justice have its way). Abdumanap Halilov made this intentionally, he refused any questions asked in Russian, saying he did not know the language. Other Abdykaim Kangeldiyev, Zyinat Zhanbotoyev (Rule of Law Society), Zuura Aisarahunova (Kyrgyzstan Communist Party), Eldik Kyimyl (People’s movement), Zhany Kyrgyzstan (New Kyrgyzstan) and March Revolution organization’ spokesmen behaved in a very similar way. Gromskiy said he heard them all speaking Russian before the conference. He believes they violated rights of ethnic minorities to access information of public interest.
