Hot News 2004 August 23 Sharki Ozod publishing company refused to publish a newspaper owned by a political party
On August 23, Abdukahhor Davlatov, an editor in chief of Nadjot weekly (body of the Tajik Islamic Rebirth Party) sent a formal appeal to Dodohonov, a head of the publishing company “Sharki Ozod” to publish the newspaper. However, Dodohonov said that the publishing company could not afford to publish the newspaper, giving no reason; additionally management department didn’t register the letter as was instructed by the head. The chief editor promised that he will complain about such groundless refusal to the Executive apparatus of the President of the RT. In its turn, Dodohonov responded: “You may complain to whoever you want, but still we won’t publish your newspaper”. Here we need to mention, that the same publishing company published a newspaper owned by Tajik National Democratic Party “Manbari halk”.
