Hot News 2004 November 10 Tax police is looking for reasons to impede distribution of Rusi Nav newspaper On November 9, Tajik TV channel broadcast a program, prepared by tax police transportation unit. The program informed that the Ruzi Nav edition was seized, because some articles in the newspaper adversely affected the state policy. A monitoring reporter asked Radjabi Mirzo, a chief editor for the newspaper, about the reasons for the seizure. He answered: “The newspaper was seized without charge; however I was informed that the Tax police requested the Ministry of Culture to determine if there is any connection between the newspaper and cultural property, whose importation is prohibited by law without express written permission.” “In case experts determine the newspaper is not cultural property, the tax police will find other reasons to send the newspaper to the Ministry of Health to determine if the newspaper is harmful to the health of its readers”- Radjabi Mirzo said. |
