A
foreign journalist was denied information
On December 17
2004, Dilafrus Djamolova, a reporter with Tajik branch of Svoboda radio,
was denied information by Hudjant police officers about students arrested
on suspicion of being members of extremist party Hizb-ut-Tahrir.
Journalist’s arguments that the Ministry of Internal Affairs had announced
these facts and that information had been already published by the media
outlets in the capital, had no effect on the officers as well. Their
reason for not giving her information was that journalists impede their
investigation; journalists, therefore won’t be given information and more
so if they are foreign.
