On 17 March, newly-elected members of Majilisi Namoyandagon Majilisi Oli (the lower chamber of the Tajik Parliament- House of Representatives) will hold the first session. Muhammadato Sultonov, Tajik Parliament’s Press Secretary, informed that at the first session the new parliament plans to elect a Majilis Speaker, but without the presence of cameras; journalists will be informed of the vote result by phone. It is worth mentioning that 43 journalists were accredited to cover sessions of the old Parliament. The Press Secretary added that the Majilisi Namoyandagon sees no need to waste journalists’ valueless time on the half hour session, devoted just to the election of the Speaker.
