Hot News 2005 17.05.2005 Tax Police sealed Somoniyen TV company’ equipment
Hosiyat Kast, an executive director of Tajikistan Association of Independent Electronic Mass Media (TajANESMI) informed the NANSMIT monitoring agency that Ministry of State Revenues and Taxes of the RT’ tax police officers sealed Somonien TV Company’s equipment on May 17. According to Fathullo Hairulloyev, head of the TV Somonien general department, reasons for sealing was a letter of the Committee for Radio Broadcasting under the Tajikistan Government, signed by Abdulatif Saidov, first deputy chairman of the Committee. “In the letter, Committee asked Tax Police to seal the equipment for grounds that the policy was not reregistered,” Hairulloyev said. The license for TV Somonien has expired on 31 December 2004. According to Barakatullo Abdulfaizov, acting head of the State Inspectorate for TV and Radio Broadcasting, the Inspectorate decided to permit Somoniyen to continue working without the license till 1 March 2005, because of the forthcoming important events – Parliamentary elections. Further steps concerning “Somoniyen we took might cause misunderstanding within the society,” Abdulfaizov said. According to Abdulfaizov, Somonien TV company continues working illegally 5 months, and thus since now it would be prohibited to broadcast, until the management systematize all registration documents.
