The NANSMIT requested the Committee for TV and radio Broadcasting to solve the Somoniyen TV Company’s problem

On May 26 2005, the National Association of Independent Mass Media issued a letter to the Committee for TV and Radio Broadcasting under the Government of Tajikistan (KTRV), to settle the problem with Somoniyen TV Company. The head of the Somoniyen TV Company requested the Association to investigate the circumstances of the KTRV’s denial to grant the company a new license during 3 years.

The NANSMIT doesn’t doubt if the decision of the KTRV to suspend the TV Company is lawful.

“However, we insist that the Somoniyen’s issue be solved in accordance with the law,” Nuriddin Karshiboyev said. “We suggest that the KTRV provides our experts with the documents, in order to solve the issue in accordance with the law.”

Somoniyen TV company’ license has expired on 31 December 2004. However the TV Company continued broadcasting during 3 months. On March 25, 2005, Committee’s License Commission decreed to suspend the Company’s activities and on May 17, the Tax Police sealed the equipment of the Company.
