“Mukhtor Bokizoda, chief editor for Nerui Sukhan newspaper, is facing criminal charges under articles 135 (Defamation) and 136 (Insult) of the Criminal Code of the RT. The case is being proceeded by the Interior Department’s investigation unit in Firdavsi district, Dushanbe. Investigator Shukhrat Djurayev issued permission for reopening the Kaihon printing firm unilaterally. That’s why the State Revenues Ministry’s Tax police officers sealed off the building once again on 14 July”, Bobodjon Bobohonov, Prosecutor General of the RT, said at the press conference that took place on July 20 in Dushanbe. The Prosecutor General also mentioned that the General Procuracy sent a notification to Bokizoda, warning that particular articles, published in the paper, contain defamatory allegations against the state officials and citizens of Tajikistan, and if the paper is not going to stop publishing such materials, they will close Nerui Sukhan.
