Nerui Sukhan chief editor called on the President

On July 2005, Mukhtor Bokizoda, Nerui Sukhan chief editor, issued a statement to the President, Prosecutor General and international organizations, saying he was unable to carry out his work within the past 6 months, as he was subjected to regular audits by the Tax police department. He believes that the criminal charges filed against him were related to his work and were biased: “Some Ministerial Departments don’t like our critical materials, and they, therefore, try to exert pressure on us, journalists, to avoid justice.”

Mukhtor Bokizoda called on the President and the Prosecutor General to check on the current situation and allow him to continue his work for the public good.

Independent Nerui Sukhan managed to resume publication on 9 July 2006, after 6 month interruption. However a week later the Tax police department prohibited publication and distribution of the paper.
