Hot News 2005 August 2 Journalist Lira Latypina sent a motion to disqualify judge
On August 2, Lira Latypina sent a motion to disqualify the judge Faizali Nozilov, who presided over civil case brought against Krim-Info weekly. Latypova and her attorney Raziyeva say in the motion: “You deal with this case improperly, trying to infringe rights of the defendants all the time over the proceedings.” In particular she pointed out that the judge allowed no time for the defence to prepare for the proceedings, ordered independent journalist Kasymbekov to leave the court room, but kept a plaintiff’s sister inside that often interfered with the proceedings. During the first hearing, Nozilov made critical remarks against co-defendant Latypova and entered them in the court record. The lawsuit was filed by retired notary Urokova and was based on article “Justice for veterans or long lasting routine,” published in Krim-Info weekly on 19 May, 2005. in her article Latypova claimed that retired lady Ponomaryova was swindled out of her flat by Urokova, after Ponomatyova had signed a forged document. |
