Hot News 2005 August 11 Ruzi Nav and Odamu Olam issued new editions
On 10 August, 2005, Ruzi Nav editor and founder, Radjabo Mirzo, issued a special free edition of the paper to mark its first anniversary. On 10 August, 2003, the independent Tajik language newspaper was printed for the first time, and a year later ceased publication, after having faced enormous pressure from the tax authorities. The special edition included 4 columns. According to the paper’s data, circulation of the edition was 99 copies. Article 11 of law of the RT “On print and other mass media” permits publication of print mediums without state registration if the circulation does not exceed 100 copies. Ruzi Nav independent newspaper ceased publishing on August 17, 2004, after the State Revenues Ministry’s Tax police had carried out an audit of private printing company “Djeyon khon” that printed independent newspapers. Ruzi Nav newspaper had to find another printing firm outside the home country. However later, copies of the paper, printed in Kyrgyzstan, were seized by the tax authorities, right at the Dushanbe airport. Radjabi Mirzo requested all the higher instances, including the President of Tajikistan, for the permit to resume publishing. All his attempts, though, were unsuccessful. As long as all printing companies in the country refused printing the paper, all its copies were printed by the printer. It’s also worth mentioning, that Odamu olam newspaper, that was closed on 17 August, 2004, issued a new edition on 11 August. |
