Hot News 2005 September 5 Nuriddin Aminov apologized for his articles
On September 2, 2005, Nuriddin Aminov met with Nigmat Abdullayev, head of the Department of Procuracy Supervision at the Tajik State University, who filed a lawsuit against Aminov, seeking damages. The Dushanbe City Court changed the decision issued by a court of the first instance, and obliged Aminov to pay 35 thousand somoni ($11.2 thousand) as a compensation for moral damages. Aminov’s property, including his house, car, cow and etc, were seized by court bailiffs. Later they issued a ban on selling these things. In the meantime, Firdavsi Court, in Dushanbe, should have been considering criminal charges against Aminov filed by Abdullayev. Aminov brought copies of Zindagi and Vecherniy Dushanbe newspapers, to show the published apologies to Abdullayev for a number of articles that had been published in the newspapers earlier. In response, Abdullayev promised he won’t demand money in damages and stop court proceedings. In his publications, the journalist accused Abdullayev of taking bribes.
