Plaintiff Nigmat Abdullayev demands that journalist Nuriddin Aminov publish new apologies

Nigmat Abdullayev, head of Procuracy Department at the Tajik National University, who won the case against journalist Nuriddin Aminov, met the journalist on August 10, 2005.

Aminov expected Abdullayev to reconsider and drop criminal charges against him, and their possible consequences as 35 thousand somoni fine (approx. $11.2 thousand). Though the journalist had published apologies to Abdullayev in the press, plaintiff demanded once more that the journalist publish apologies in another newspaper Golos Tajikistana. The journalist explained the newspaper is currently facing financial problems, so it is issued not regularly. However Abdullayev refused to dispute over the case closure, until he sees the apologies in the paper.

The independent journalist Nuriddin Aminov published apologies to Abdullayev earlier in Zindagi and Vecherniy Dushanbe newspapers.
