Hot News 2005 19.09.05 Head of Democratic Party of Tajikistan expressed protest against a number of articles published in the republican press
On 17 September, Rahmatullo Valiyev, head of Democratic Party of Tajikistan, protested against a number of publications in the republican press, at a press conference in Dushanbe. The publications include a report on press conference held by the Prosecutor’s Office titled “The Court would determine guilt of Mahmadruzi Iskandarov,” in government newspaper Djumhuriyat. The report was distributed by Procuracy press agency. Another article criticized was by Muhammadali Zokir “Prisoners for ideas or prisoners for consciousness,” published in Asia-plus newspaper on September 1, 2005. Speaking to the journalists, Valiyev defined the publications as an attempt to intervene into justice and influence the court directly. Valiyev believes that the publications were ordered, aiming at blackening head of Tajik Democratic Party by any means possible.
